KOLINE is a single sheet book I printed in November 2013. The title of the piece is a Croatian term for the traditional feast of slaughtering domestic pigs that takes place in late November. The book investigates the recollection of fragmented memories and present day experiences of identity, tradition and interpretations through the lens of a local custom. In traditional pig slaughter, meat is cut manually and grinding is done with manually operated grinding machines. This hand on activity was particullary interesting to illustrate using abstract letterpress printing.
