James (Jameir) Andrews is a lifelong resident of Philadelphia and has been attending classes at Oasis since 2009, developing a diverse body of work that is utilized as a visual communication aid and explores his love of pattern and repetition. According to his mother, Jameir has been covering the walls of his bedroom from floor to ceiling with his artwork for almost a decade, creating a small “time capsule” documenting the development of his style. Jameir’s artwork is inspired by process. His drawings are driven by a love of symmetry and intensive layering and by his need for an outwardly unplaceable sense of completion. While his mixed-media drawings are often entirely pattern-based, Jameir’s figurative work focuses primarily on abstract elements. Jameir is also known to whistle while he works.
