I love scaring people, like jumping out from a behind a tree on a hike. I like to do this because my dad used to scare me all the time and I hated it so much but really, I love the way it made me feel.
I am a creative idiot who wants to show the degree to which we have shaped this world can be altered. I want to highlight cognitive blind spots and celebrate the mystery that comes out of that. I want to enliven whatever thing I'm working on through the use of mischief, the uncanny, and the surreal.
I don't know a lot.
This book was made with two wood blocks of the same dimension of the unfolded single sheet. I carved the text out of one block and printed it in blue. I then sprinkled the material that was carved from the text of the first block onto the second block. The second block was already inked with orange so the carvings created a mask. The language of every page has a corresponding material equivalent on the other side. The material complements the language and might say more.
