Monique Avakian is a NY-based performing poet and writer known for her creative spirit, cross-genre experimentation, and anti-brand stance. In addition to creating 3-dimensional poetry sculptures, Monique also makes poetry videos, chapbooks and poetry collages. Monique’s video poem, “Don’t Tweet While Dreaming,” appeared in Hofstra University’s online journal, AMP (spring of 2019). Four of her mixed-media poetry sculptures were included in the Bruce Museum's Community 6x6 project, (Spring, 2019). Her digital and analog work has also been included in the house journal and various exhibits at Blue Door Gallery, Yonkers, NY (2010 – 2018). Current projects include: the Neo-Surrealist Book of Lists and Video Series; and "Wind in the Mirror," a book of political poems. This is her first RITUAL experiment.
