As a book artist, writer, printmaker and teacher, living and working in the Greater Washington DC area, I like to explore the intersection between art and science. My work uses imagery from travel, cartography, astronomy and dreams.
This Book-in-a-Page was created during the total solar eclipse in August, 2017; we were in Glendo, Wyoming. The drawings, using watercolor pencils, show the phases as the moon completely blocked out the sun. Whenever we travel, my spouse takes photographs and I make sketches; this is our ritual. We always try to observe and participate in astronomical and geographic events because we love the intersection between art and science.
