Krista Narciso is a printmaker and book artist currently living and working in Iowa City, IA. She is an MFA student at the University of Iowa Center for the Book with an anticipated graduation date of 2020. She earned her BFA in Printmaking from the Hartford Art School in 2015. Her work explores the concepts of presence, absence, and memory through the book form.
Mend explores how a material object can often become an accumulation of memory. When an old, worn, or well-loved object begins to fall apart, it is a natural human desire to preserve the memory held by the object. The ritual, the process of mending, often brings a sense of presence - to a particular place at a particular point in time - in the face of absence.
