Maryann Riker is a mixed-media artist whose collages and artist books convey a visual narrative of time and memory. They combine vintage images and papers that describe the roles of women, moments in time, historical events and spiritual journeys. Her works are in many public and private collections.
"Equipped for..." is a little tome dedicated to the ritual of studying the heavens. With images of celestial maps from antiquity to modern day images of the Hubble telescope, the work speaks to man's study of the heavens in understanding his/her place within it.
