Light, or maybe atmosphere, is created when these two artists make their work. The boundaries seemingly out of focus, yet not at all. The intensions are clear: an exploration of places meditative and adjacent.

Abbey Ryan, a native of the New Jersey Shore, completed her undergraduate work in science and art at Arcadia University. Her paintings have been featured in publications such as O, the Oprah Magazine, Seth Godin’s bestseller, Linchpin: Are you Indispensible?, Brainard Carey’s Making It In the Art World, on FOX29’s “Good Day Philadelphia,” as well as in many museums and galleries throughout the United States and Europe. Recent exhibitions include Average, a solo exhibition at Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia; Affinity, a four-person exhibition at Mt. Airy Contemporary Artists Space in Philadelphia; as well as group exhibitions in Atlanta, Sacramento, and Portland. Ryan currently works full-time in her studio in Philadelphia, teaches painting workshops, and is a visiting assistant professor at Arcadia University.

Jury Smith, a native of New York, studied ceramics at Sanboa Ceramic Art Institute (China) and Tyler School of Art (Philadelphia). Her ceramic work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in Europe, Asia, and across the U.S., at such places as the Oliver Sears Gallery (Dublin), Irish American Historical Society (NYC), Fleisher Art Memorial (Philadelphia), Jingdezhen University (China), the Clay Studio (Philadelphia), Artists Space (NYC), and Blutenweiss Gallery (Germany).
Jury's work has "a wonderful weight and silence," as described by Edith Newhall, in her Philadelphia Inquirer review of Jury's solo exhibition at The Fleisher Art Memorial. Recently, Jury was a Featured Artist in Ceramics Monthly; also, Sherman Hall, editor of Ceramics Monthly, recently featured Jury's work in a piece entitled "Community Supported Pottery." In August 2011, her work was selected for the 6th World Ceramic Biennial in Korea at the Icheon World Ceramic Center. In addition to the Korean Biennial, recent exhibitions include In|Form at the Clay Art Center (NY), Dubh: Dialogues in Black at the American Irish Historical Society (NYC), and Rock, Paper, Scissors at Lux Center (NE), and Maine Botanical Gardens (ME).
Jury currently teaches visual art at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, with a focus on ceramics and sculpture.
