Phyllis Gorsen is a working artist who lives inthe Philadelphia region. She received her Masters of Fine Art from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and got her BA at the University of Pittsburgh.
She is a figurative painter working mostly with acrylic, paper, and charcoal on canvas. She is interested in seeking, through the tension between the abstract surface and the representational image, the spirit that the everyday signifies. These are the moments that reflect quiet internal stories, interludes, the fleeting, and the space-in-between that carry a thread of cohesion through all of us. They describe daily patterns of life, and the building blocks of our existence. Her objective is to celebrate the everyday by portraying it, using memory as inspiration.
