The Cosmic Mother Tree, 2024 

During POST this weekend my year-long project made her first reveal at Marguerita Hagan's Post Open Studio.

It was around 2017 when I first encountered this remarkable Hickory. Its distinctive shape, with a rounded base, towering height, and tapering tip, immediately caught my attention. Since then, I've spent years sculpting, painting, and simply observing it to truly understand its uniqueness.

In November 2023, a dream sparked a profound creative journey. In this dream, I was tasked with the extraordinary mission of crafting a 'Cosmic' Mother Tree. Now, a year later, this otherworldly sculpture is nearing its completion, a testament to the power of inspiration and the boundless love of Tree/Human spirit.

These Mother trees, not just nurturing and protective figures in the forest, are also significant in the global ecosystem. They are the great transformers, converting carbon dioxide into life-giving oxygen. But their role doesn't end there. They are also believed to be conduits, bringing the Great Mystery with our Planet, a bridge between the unknown and the familiar.

This Cosmic Mother Tree is an homage to the energy, love, and care Trees bring to this Planet.
