A 1000 years old method of decorative papermaking, Itajime Shibori is created by pleating, folding, clamping and then dying the paper or fabric, producing beautiful repeat patterns that are always a surprise.

Open to the public and free of charge, this event will be a hands-on experience of expression and creativity through unlimited pattern and color.

Since 2011, PD Packard has been creating cooperative learning experiences with elementary school children by teaching workshops on Itajime Shibori, Chinese brush painting and bookbinding in the Boerum Hill and Prospect Heights neighborhoods of Brooklyn, NY.
