The Lamont Gallery presents “2016, A State of Mind: Boston Printmakers,” an exhibit featuring the works of nearly 150 artist members from The Boson Printmakers, working in a variety of techniques and styles to tackle some of the issues facing us today: energy conservation, wealth opportunity, LGBTQ rights, global warming, national security, immigration, animal rights and voter suppression. A pamphlet from The Boston Printmakers states, “The hundred and forty-eight images, representing 32 states, are an honest reflection of the times as well as an independent personal vision of the artist as printmaker.”
Boston Printmakers, a nonprofit organization founded in 1947, supports innovation and excellence in printmaking. The mission of this volunteer organization is to promote public knowledge, understanding, and support for printmaking, encourage and support artists working in printmaking, promote excellence in printmaking, and support innovation within the field of printmaking.
