Bubble artists, Jean Burdick, Arlene Gale Milgram and Judy Tobie are in a group show at the Pennington School's Silva Gallery in Pennington, NJ. The exhibition 5: five artists, five visions, will run from March 25 through April 25, 2014. The opening is April 11, 2014 from 6 to 8:00 P.M.
This exhibition brings together five women artists who regularly meet to critique each others work, share ideas and information. Each artist has a unique perspective and focuses on a different medium. Jean Burdick brings together layers of superimposed textures and images. She fuses painting and printmaking to build upon her observations of the interconnected and interdependent systems of nature. Arlene Gale Milgram shows her mixed-media work. She uses deconstruction and construction processes, repurposing work as she layers, rips it apart and reassembles it using stitches for mark making and repair. Judy Tobie creates hand made paper which she transforms into art that is driven by the materials as well as the concept.
The energy of the exhibit lies in the diversity of media and approaches among members of this group of five. The viewer is challenged to engage in the dialog among the artworks and find connections. Hopefully, this will result in close observation of the individual pieces and richer appreciation of what they share.
