This interdisciplinary multimedia exhibition brings together recent and new work in traditional and experimental media that respond to the intrinsically related themes of immobility/mobility in a global context. Issues explored by this international group of selected artists include: geography & geology, ecological change, dream states, migration, transnationalism, accessibility, demobilization, cartography, modes and patterns of circulation.
Ana Vizcarra Rankin's large scale maps chart the heavens as well as the continents of the planet. Inspired by ancient cartography in their malleability and sturdiness, her paintings depict the phenomenological coordinates of her sense of being in and of the world.
