OPEN CALL for Women Artists Studio Grant Program

District’s Studio Grant Program concentrates explicitly on the promotion of contemporary women artists. Since 2010, District has awarded the studio grant to visual artists with the aim to open a room where long-term dialogues between artistic, curatorial, research and educational practices can evolve.

The next scholarship holder will be awarded the use of a 15 m² studio in the District building for a period of 6 months from August 1, 2015 to January 31, 2016. There are no restrictions based on nationality or age. Unfortunately there is no funding for any travel or accommodation expenses.

Please apply with a CV, a work proposal for the 6 months, a portfolio of no more than 10 pages (max. 3 MB) and, if necessary, maximum two links to stream videos by Friday, May 29th, 2015.

Founded in 2010 on the grounds of the historic Malzfabrik, District Berlin offers an interdisciplinary think and work space for the collaborative intersection of art and other fields of knowledge. District’s focus rests on artistic ideas that deal with urban space and its appropriation as well as a new understandings of the commons. Taking its de-centralized location as conceptual premise, District offers a platform for the articulation of perspectives which are currently at the margins of political and cultural representation.
