Ever wanted to make your own prints?
Learn easy ways to make prints in class and at home. You’ll use easy and safe printing techniques that are non-toxic and water-based. I’ll show you simple techniques you can continue at home on your own kitchen table. You’ll learn simple printing methods that will express your artistic creativity. You’ll see lots of examples of prints by well-known artists as well as previous student work. We’ll look at our work and learn from each other in a welcoming community environment. You’ll learn to

  • take your idea and from inception to a finished print;
  • learn simple monoprint and relief techniques
  • handle printmaking paper, mix colors, register layers, create prints you can share with classmates, friends, and family
  • work in a communal studio with shared materials & equipment

We’ll also visit behind the scenes at some of Philadelphia’s hidden treasures and special collections to see fine art prints and printed materials from everyday life. Registration for site visits to print collections is included in this course. Attendance at these off-site visits is encouraged but not required.
