Musical Performance
Thursday, July 24, 2014

We are really excited to announce that Lesley Tao Mowat will be performing LIVE at 110 CHURCH gallery on July 24th at 7 pm. Space is limited so we're using TicketLeap for reservations. This is a free event. If you have visited the gallery and heard parts of her musical suite you know you want to hear what she'll do live.

Music as Presence. Sounding as Connection to Place. Calling Out, I Am Here.

Lesley Tao Mowat's music, and now this performance, is integral to the experience of Soundings. It occupies equal space with drawings by Stella Untalan and an installation by sculptor Amy Ralston.

Sounding refers to a mechanism of probing the environment by sending out some kind of stimulus. The term comes from the ancient practice of determining the depth of water by feeding out a line with a weight at the end — making a sounding.

Lesley Tao Mowat inhabits a world of sound, creating music from both listening and seeing with heightened awareness. Her past includes creating sound art in a rock band and creating visual art in the pioneer days of new media. She holds an MFA in Computer Art from The School of Visual Arts (SVA).

Lesley Tao helps people experience the joy and healing effect of self-expression through the creativity that is in each of us. Lesley Tao's greatest love and inspiration is Mother Earth's Web of Life and The Spirit That Lives In All Things.

The soundings suite of music will be available for purchase at the performance.
