CALL FOR ARTISTS : Philadelphia Sculptors, Pope Up

Pope Francis' upcoming visit to Philadelphia in September, 2015, is occasioning activities and festivities from many sectors of the city and region. Philadelphia Sculptors, in conjunction with the Globe Development Group, will make a unique contribution to the citywide events with "Pope Up," an exhibition of artworks that present artists' concepts relating to this historic visit. Artists of all backgrounds and media will create artwork that celebrates, comments upon, interprets, imagines, or explores elements of any established religion, or specifically the papacy and its history, social context, culture, and/or regalia.

Globe Dye Works

 

The exhibition will take place at Globe Dye Works, a former manufacturing facility in the Frankford section of Philadelphia that now houses small businesses, artists' studios, and community organizations. The show will run from September 4 - 27 and will be open to the public on weekends. "Pope Up" will be included in the 2015 Philadelphia Fringe Festival and will continue throughout the month of September.

Selected artists will also be able to sell smaller works in the "Pope Up" store.

Delivery and Installation: Monday, August 31 and Tuesday, September 1, 2015 Exhibition: September 5 - 27, 2015
Closing reception: Saturday, September 26, noon – 5:00 pm
Exhibition hours: noon – 5:00 pm, Saturdays and Sundays only
Deinstallation and Pickup of work: Monday and Tuesday, September 28 -29, noon – 5:00 pm.
